We see as spilled market (pasar tumpah), but if they did not block the sidewalks, we allow it

Jakarta Governor, Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama assessed, the existence of street vendors is the backbone of populist economic. However, he is still reluctant tolerating  street vendors who open their stall by blocking public facilities.

"We see as spilled market (pasar tumpah), but if they did not block the sidewalks, we allow it. That's what I am saying, for me street vendor is the backbone of populist economic. But it does not mean you can disservice many citizens," expressed Ahok, at City Hall, Monday (6/29).

Ahok mentioned in taking decision for controlling street vendors, he always sees the advantage and disadvantage. If there is more advantages, then it will be just arranged thus it will not disrupt public facilities. "There are always advantages and disadvantages in every decision, we want more advantages," he stressed.

Former Regent of East Belitung added if street vendors do not block the facilities fully, then it will still be tolerated. But if all space used, then they will be raided. "You have blocked the road arbitrarily, people will get aggrieved. But if you can still be arranged and not block the road, then you're nice," he disclosed.

Ahok reminds the street vendors in order not to sell food that mixed the harmful ingredients. As it will disservice customers. Moreover if it is eaten continuously can cause cancer. "You're an evil if sell foods with harmful ingredients. Causing people infected by cancer, chips mixed dye, iced dessert drink mixed with textile dye, it is crazy innovation," he expressed.

He wanted despite of selling alongside the road yet health have to be priority. "We will not tolerate. There have to be food security for Jakartans," he closed.
